Magic layout
Do you want a sneak peak of a layout from the new CTMH design book Magic? This layout “Parlor Trick” on page 14. Supplies are as follows:
Topstitch paper pack (X7120B)
Chocolate ink
Vineyard Berry Ink
Doddle Art stamps (D1240)
2 sheets of Desert Sand cardstock
DMC 315 thread (Vineyard Berry color)
I changed the layout just a smidge because I cropped my photos just a hair too small and I have a 5x7 photo that I really wanted to use. But this is what I love about the CTMH Design books, you can see the idea, get inspiration and then just combine your ideas with the book for beautiful layouts every time. The Magic layout also shows you how to hide your journaling but I wanted mine out in the open so that has been changed too.
I’m 13
Kaela created this birthday layout using Studio J. I have ordered the actual layout but it is not here yet so all have for you to see is this screen shot. I am just so excited over her artwork I think Studio J just might be the scrapbooking format she has been looking for! She is going to use this layout as her “try out” for the Ford Middle School Choir Historian position.
Wish her luck!
Here are the “other pages” from her birthday made with traditional scrappin methods. But I like the Studio J layouts better than mine this time.
She did a great job!
The first day of 7th Grade
I am just now starting to scrap 7th grade for Kaela, I know it was last year but hey I am a little late. Here is the first page of her 7th grade album.
The Last of the Composition Notebooks
Kaela came home today very tired but asking me to pretty up her other notebooks too. She handed me 2 of her notebooks and then a 3rd. She very quickly explained that “my English teacher would like a pretty journal too, here she sent one for you to do”. Kaela handed me 3 new journals and ran up the stairs! Then yelled over the side of the house…. “oh and I need them back on Monday”. Kaela rarely asks me to do anything scrappy wise for her, how could I resist? So here is what I came up with.
Here is the one for Ms. Franklin. All Kaela could tell me about her teacher is that she likes purple… I hope so.
Here is Kaela’s English Journal
This is the last journal I finished. Kaela was pretty happy.
So it appears I am finished with my homework :-)

shopping cart error
The link in the shopping cart has an error in it. As soon as Mike gets home I will have him fix it to take you to my CTMH website for a little shopping. Thanks your for bearing with me. :-)
A Little Alteration
A new school year has begun and along with that I have tried something new Altered Composition Notebooks. I have seen many CTMH consultants post photos of all the pretty notebooks they have done but I was just chicken to try it. Chicken no more – here is what I did.
I made this one for my blog notes. I always write down ideas first and think on them for a little while before posting and this notebook helps to keep my thoughts in one place.
Why did I wait so long to try this? It is sooooo easy!
Doing It My Way
Moving from “Product” pages to “Story” pages – are you loosing focus? Do you scrapbook for art?… for the story? or just to make your albums pretty?
I am sitting at Chili’s listening to PCRT (Episode 033) and during the “Male reads the Mail” section they are reading a letter from Jennifer Stewart. Jennifer is remembering about her dad’s battle with cancer and on the way to one of the chemo treatments she asked him if he wanted to write down some words of wisdom for his grandchildren? Even though he wanted to to he was just too sick and weak to focus on his answers. Jennifer dad only had cancer for 9 months. Since loosing her dad she lost interest in making each page “balanced & beautiful” and decided to really focus on just recording stories. She even changed her album format to 8x11 to celebrate a new beginning in her memory keeping.
Here is the question: Are you product driven or memory driven?
Me: I love the products that make my memories pretty but I am memory driven! I do not even begin the artwork until all of the photos for each project are organized and journaling is done. Once all of my memories are documented then and only then do I give over to the creative side of me.
I have lost so many memories in my family because no one took photos and no one talks about the “old times” or “growing up”, I do not want that to happen in the Perry Family. So, do we want our stories pretty or recorded? I WANT IT ALL! I have been scrapbooking for 9 years and I have many finished scrapbooks that are pretty but I am reaching a point of growth that along with pretty I want more of the back story. I can still do the deeper storytelling but still have the pretty factor and all of the memorabilia in my albums. I need to think on different ways to make that happen but I can have my cake and eat it too. This is my hobby and I can DO IT MY WAY.
The “Tommy Project” is finished
I think I am finished making cards for by brother, Tommy. These cards are for Tommy to send to his daughter and I think they will both love them. Here are the last few:
There is just a little contraband supplies in these cards but I just had too. I will be getting these in the mail on my next day off. Just a little love from Aunt Jenny to Eli bug.
